Logitech BRIO price may look high at first but once you get it and you start using it, you know the webcam is worth it’s money.
Few months ago i bought my Logitech BRIO camera and ever since i really wanted to make something like a review of it, since i have so many things to say about it.
First we gotta talk about do you even need a webcam and what are the situations in which such high quality webcam is even needed.
I personally use Logitech BRIO mostly for recording long gaming footage and streaming.
Especially for streaming Logitech BRIO is one of the best options you can find.
Now if you are looking for a camera for vlogging or just making normal youtube videos, i wouldn’t say that Logitech BRIO is the best choice for you.
Whats the best price of Logitech BRIO?
It depends on your location i personally bought it in Europe for 210$ i also get it directly from a local store so i didn’t had to pay a shipping fee.
Logitech BRIO vs Mirrorless Camera which one is better?
When it comes to webcams as a whole many people will ask why bother getting a webcam when you can buy a professional camera.
This argument is quite silly because of two reasons. First is the purpose of the two is different and second the two are on a very different price level.
New Logitech BRIO costs around 200$ and if you get a new camera for 200$ it will have worse quality than the Brio.
If you wanna buy a decent new mirrorless camera you will need at least 500$ which again is a very different price level.
When it comes to the price in conclusion if you have a low budget and you want a decent quality Logitech BRIO is a great choice, but if you have money to spend and you want a top level quality definitely go with mirrorless camera.
The second aspect as i said is the purpose of the two.
Logitech BRIO is a camera mainly for video calls, gaming recording, maybe conference calls, streaming and so on.
The benefit of Logitech BRIO is that the footage goes directly in your computer and you don’t need to transfer files after that or even worse to have to sync audio of microphone and video.
Syncing audio and video may not seem like a big deal at first, but if you plan on making daily videos, it will take you some time.
With Logitech BRIO this is a great plus that the footage video and audio goes right in to the hard disk and it is ready to edit or upload right away.
Another benefit of Logitech BRIO is that you don’t need a tripod or anything else to place it, you just put it on the top of your monitor and you are ready to go.
With cameras most likely you will need to have a tripod or something like that in order to place the camera on the right angle. When it comes to angles, Logitech BRIO is very flexible, which helps you easily to switch the angle and also if your room is sometimes messy like mine, this can be pretty useful.
Logitech BRIO and Overheating?
I’ve heard about a lot of mirrorless cameras that overheat and i in the time when i was buying the Logitech BRIO i was worries will it have the same problem as those cameras. Luckily i had no problem with that so far.
Logitech BRIO gets a bit warm if you record around 10 minutes with it, but this doesn’t escalate so when it comes to overheating i had no problems so far.
Logitech BRIO vs C920
My every webcam so far has been a Logitech one and i have been very happy with their webcam products.
Logitech BRIO is much more expensive then all other previous Logitech webcams including the C9 – something series.
Here i will leave a video comparison between the two but if i gotta shorten it up, buy C920 only if you don’t have enough money for a Logitech BRIO.
C920 still has pretty decent quality and if the purpose of your camera is maybe just for video calls or basic videos than it will do the trick for you.
My first ever camera was also Logitech but i don’t even remember her number it was a 15$ webcam and even with it i manage to record quite a lot of videos with it, especially having in mind that if you wanna make let’s plays or tutorials on youtube, the camera will be small in some of the angles of the screen.
Logitech BRIO Settings & Setting Up
I gotta say that Brio isn’t the easiest camera to setup you may have some hard times at first when you set its first settings, but since then it will be easy.
The good thing is that you will be able to use the Logitech Capture App which is very customizable and will help you set Logitech BRIO the way you want to.
There are few key things about setting up the Brio. First you gotta keep in mind that 60 fps is not available for 4K.
If you wanna record a 4K video you will have to do it on 30 fps, or if you insist on the frame rate and you feel like that’s most important for you than you can go on 1080p and record the video with 60 fps.
The 60 fps mode of Logitech BRIO feels very nice and smooth it is bringing the webcam experience to another level.
So most of the times when it comes to frames per second i switch between 30 and 60 frames per second depending on the quality i am recording with.
Logitech BRIO is compatible with all standard software, like XSplit, OBS, Camtasia or whatever you are using and again the main one is the Logitech Capture App which offers very high customization.
I personally like to use XSplit when i record video content for let’s plays on my youtube channel and also for Streaming, even though i rarely stream and i use Camtasia or the Logitech Capture app if i wanna make a quick video or some kind of quick vlog, talking on a subject.
Camtasia is very good for youtube in particular because it separates the audio and the video which gives you big variety when it comes to the editing process.
When it comes to alternatives of the Brio there are many options, as i said earlier if you have a low budget you can buy any of the cheaper logitech webcams depending on your budget.
On the other hand if you have a high budget 500-1000$ or even more you can buy yourself a mirrorless camera but i definitely don’t recommend you jumping on something with a high price if you cannot afford it.
Many people think that in order to be a successful on youtube you need to have some super high quality camera, that’s just not true.
As long as you have a decent camera, anything that can record 1080p will be enough for you.
Now surely it may be better to have a very high quality camera, but all i’m saying is, it is not necessary.
You have to consider also that it is very like that the cheapest option for you recording decent quality videos is your smartphone.
Sure it may be the case that you don’t have a smartphone but we gotta agree that, that’s a pretty rare case in 2019.
Most smartphones can record a very decent level of video, i personally am using a mid range smartphone and it’s front camera is on a very good level.
So if you have no budget at all the best alternative is simply to use your phone, sure you will have to upload the video to the computer and you will have to eventually sync the audio but is a very good option.
Did i had any issues with Brio?
Even though i am happy with my Brio there were some issues that i gotta mention here.
Brio and the disable of white balance, the screen becoming orange.
Those are the two things people are searching in google when they meet this Brio problem.
The footage suddenly becomes with much more saturated colors and often it comes orange or red.
The reason for this problem is that for some weird reason the white balance of the Brio disable itself.
The solution for this is to enable the white balance again from your recording software and to set it on a level you will feel comfortable with the colors.
Another problem that annoyed me was the very slight but yet very annoying delay of the audio of the video.
The delay is very small but it cause me problems with some videos. I am still looking for a solution for the audio delay problem of Brio.
Are there differences between Logitech Brio 4K and Logitech Brio 4K Stream Edition?
When i decided that Brio is the camera that i wanna by i was very surprised that in the online store that i was going to buy it from there were 2 Brio products, one was the standard one and the other was Brio 4K Streaming Edition.
Long story short, they are pretty much the same cameras, you will see no difference i only heard that with the Stream edition you will get some sort of license for a recording software but i am not very familiar with that.
The price of the standard Brio and the Stream Edition one is pretty much the same so it doesn’t matter which one you order.
I personally bought the standard one because it had a very little lower price so i order that one.
Logitech Brio Unboxing
When it comes to the unboxing there were not many surprises, the few things that i really liked in the box were the privacy protector which is a little flipping thing to block the view of the camera when you are not using it, it is pretty useful i gotta say.
The other thing that i liked was the little bag in which you can put all of the parts, including the camera, cable, protector.
And it may be a funny detail but i really liked the design of the box it was very clean and minimalistic.
Logitech Brio System Requirements
Something that i found out when i bought my Brio was the importance of the quality of my PC.
If you wanna record 4K video especially while gaming you will need a very strong computer.
I would say that 8GGB of ram is what you should have at least if you wanna record a high quality gaming footage with 4K.
If you try recording with less than that, it is very likely to experience lag in a lot of the new games.
I had a very bad experience while playing Fortnite and recording with the Brio where i set the camera to 4K and i set the game to Ultra Settings, the result was a video full of freezes and lags.
When it comes to a places from which you can buy Brio, you can do it either from amazon or from the Logitech website.
Again don’t be confused if you see the Stream Edition of the camera the price will be pretty much the same and it doesn’t make much difference.
I bought the camera from a local shop near me and i got it very fast because they had it there so i didn’t had to wait for shipping.
Just look around the internet and find the place where you will be able to find the camera for the best price.
In conclusion i would say that for its price Brio is a very good camera it is not comparable to mirrorless camera but it is definitely the best webcam and probably the best overall camera for that price.
